Bike collection to aid developing countries
An annual collection of bicycles will take place tomorrow in Hudson. The Bicycle Collection Drive will be held on Sunday, June 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hudson’s City Hall, 481 Main Rd., Hudson.
Gently used wheels in good condition will be shipped to developing countries where they can make a huge difference, say organizers. Such transportation could allow someone to fetch clean, drinkable water each day, for example, or travel miles to a job in another village which in turn can help feed a family.
Those who donate bicycles will also be asked to contribute $12 - $15 per bike to help cover transportation costs. Tax receipts for the bicycles and donations will be issued.
