Voting began this week in a contest that will determine seven Vaudreuil-Soulanges jewels worth discovering and celebrating.
During the next month people can vote on line or at specific locations in les 7 merveilles de Vaudreuil-Soulanges contest.
Choices are between 50 places submitted by residents or municipalities in eight different categories.

Ballots will also be printed until May 31 in L’Étoile and Première Édition newspapers. Completed forms can be left at caisses Desjardins banks, or faxed to 450-424-1901.
Some nominees in the (for profit) Regional Ambassador category include: Auberge des Gallant; Château Vaudreuil; Finnegan's Market, and Sucrerie de la Montagne.
The Soulanges Canal, Base de plein air des Cèdres, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional Museum, Pointe-du-Moulin historic park, and others are nominated in the not-for-profit ambassador category.
Other categories include: panoramic routes, charming village centres, interesting natural zones and historic attractions and buildings.
The winners will be announced June 19.
St. Lazare resident Carole Marcoux is credited with the idea.
The director of information for Hebdos du Suroît, which produces L’Étoile and Première Édition, said having a strong team of organizers was very important.
Marcoux is happy with the number of entrees received and anticipates learning what people will choose for the seven area wonders of Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
