Flag Football in St Lazare
St Lazare is home to a new and growing flag football league whose members hail from Ile Perrot, Pincourt and the West Island. They play the game at the St Lazare Sports Complex in an indoor arena. Flag football is played with the same rules as regular football but without the tackling. “There is no contact, no physical blocking. It’s a passing and a strategy game,” said Christopher Gibbs, of the Colts Team. Teams are divided into three age groups – 10 to 12 years, 13 to 15 years and 16+ which includes adults. The youngest age group, which number 56 in all, have both girls and boys on the same teams. There are 30 players in the second age group, 35 in the mens’ team and 24 in the women’s team. Gibbs said that many of the players are regular football players, including members of the Lakeshore Football association, who want to hone their skills without contact. If you would like to join the league or need information, call Christopher Gibbs at 450 458-8845 or Steven Lambert at 450 458-6683.
