Festival des Couleurs de Rigaud on today and tomorrow
Rigaud - As mont Rigaud glows this Thanksgiving weekend with Mother Nature’s brilliant display of crimson and gold colors, more than 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the 10th Annual Festival des Couleurs de Rigaud today, Saturday, October 6 and tomorrow, Sunday, October 7.
Activities are free for the festival’s two days. A free bus service will link the sites from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. People can enjoy a walk on any of the paths of the 25 kilometre trail, l’Escapade. Cultural and historical exhibitions are located on mont Rigaud, Adventure Park, Rigaud train station, Parc Chartier-de-Lotbinière, Parc Desjardins-de-Rigaud and Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. @ST:Guided walking tours @R:Activities include: guided walking tours on trails of l’Escapade, flavours and gourmet food product market, Amerindian village and First Nations customs, horse-drawn carriage tours, as well as tale and legend tellers of Passemenière.

Visitors can discover birds with the Club ornithologique de Vaudreuil-Soulanges with the Blue Butterfly’s hero, David Marenger and his butterfly collection.

There will be a world music instrument workshop, pony carrousel, merry-go-rounds, public entertainers, face painting, caricatures, street musicians, lectures and workshops by the Agence Forestière de la Montérégie. Rigaud train station will have an exhibition of photos of two national hockey legends, Maurice Richard and Frank Selke. Louis Parson will exhibit photographs of the countryside. Centre d’histoire postale and philatélique du Suroît will display their collections. L’ensemble folkorique du Sud-Ouest will play festive music. @ST:Le Train des Couleurs

Le Train des Couleurs Montréal/Rigaud, will run excursions on two days, Saturday and Sunday. In previous years, the train has brought between 700 and 800 visitors to the festival for one day. There will be a bus excursion to Pointe-Fortune to visit Ruisseau à Charrette and the Baie Brazeau, to walk on the trails and to visit exhibitions of local artists. @ST:Ambassadors @R:For the first time this year, the MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges has organized an exhibition of 16 of its 23 municipalities at the pavilion “Parc Aventure” on mont Rigaud. Each municipality will host a kiosk to show its individual character, and how it differs from its MRC neighbours.
