The Lester B. Pearson School board closed all of its schools, training centres and offices on Thursday at the urging of board engineers.
Concerns over heavy snow – made heavier by this week’s rainfall – on building roofs prompted the move.
All Pearson schools, including those in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, have additionally cancelled evening and weekend courses and activities until further notice.
Engineers and work crews will assess the buildings, say board officials.
In the meantime, it is not clear if students will make-up lost days with an extended school year in June, or through cancelled professional days.
Schools are required by the education ministry to give students 180 teaching days. This week’s closure means Pearson students are down to 178 days.
