International Language Centre expanding
Dorval – The Lester B. Pearson School Board’s International Language Centre in Pointe-Claire will be expanding.
Already filled to capacity, the Board’s “World Class” International Language Centre, the first of its kind to operate in a public educational institution in the province of Quebec, presently offers a residential facility for 42 students and an environment well-suited to address the needs of students from other countries, as well as language training and a professional development centre for our communities. The expansion will incorporate an additional 56 student places and will continue to provide a diverse educational experience for students from around the globe. The one million dollar funding for this project is being entirely financed by revenues generated from the International Studies Program. Since the spring of 2002, the Lester B. Pearson School Board has operated an International Studies Program, which to date, has offered an exceptional international educational experience to over 500 students from 19 countries around the world. Most of the students are of high school age, with a small group of elementary students and CEGEP students. Some international students are back for a second year, as they had previously stayed at West Island homes while studying here.
