Yvon Marcoux & Michael M Fortier announce funding
$1,852,847 for Pincourt & l’Île-Cadieux infrastructure
Pincourt - The town of Pincourt and l’Île-Cadieux will share $585,091 under the federal-provincial agreement on the transfer of a portion of the federal gasoline excise tax revenues and the Government of Quebec’s contribution.
Yvon Marcoux, MNA for Vaudreuil, and Michael M. Fortier, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, held a press conference on Friday, October 19 for the announcement.
It is the first payment for the two cities, which will receive over the next four years, a total of $1,852,847 for important infrastructure projects.
André D’Aragon, Pincourt’s acting mayor, and Marc-André Léger, Mayor of l’Île-Cadieux gave speeches. Mr. Marcoux made the presentation on behalf of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Regions, Nathalie Normandeau; Mr. Fortier on behalf of the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, the Hon. Lawrence Cannon. The first payment total is $585,091 with Pincourt receiving $520,449 and l’Île-Cadieux $64,642. The total contribution is $1,852,847 with Pincourt receiving $1,626,405 and l’Île-Cadieux, $226,442. “The repair and modernization of public infrastructure is an important priority for the Government of Quebec. The funding announced today is a reflection of our commitment to improve the quality of life of residents. With this agreement, Pincourt and l’Île-Cadieux will now be able to rely on stable annual funding, which will facilitate planning the work that needs to be done. As proven by the “Plan québécois des infrastructures” which foresees an investment of $30 billion within the next five years, the repair and modernization of public infrastructure is an important priority for the Government of Quebec”, said Mr. Marcoux. “Offering access to quality infrastructure is an important priority for the Government of Canada. This is why we are moving ahead with our $33 billion “Building Canada” infrastructure program. Projects such as these demonstrate once again how open federalism practiced by the Government of Canada can contribute to improving the quality of life for residents in Quebec municipalities”, said Minister Fortier.
