Hudson Film Society & La boîte lumineuse start fall film showings
Hudson – The two film societies are launching their fall film schedule and it promises to be a treat for film goers.
“Hudson Film Society had a wonderful first 2006-2007 season. For our second 2007-2008 season we will show eight films, mixing drama with lighter stuff, so it’s not an all-heavy program. We plan to have one Quebec film, one Canadian film, one documentary film, and several foreign films”, says Carole de Sevigne, who is the society’s volunteer program coordinator. Clint Ward, president, says that the quality of the films is fabulous. “They are of a superior quality to anything you will see in a West Island theatre, because of the DVDs we rent from the Toronto International Film Society: The Film Circuit,” said Ms. Sevigny. The first film Lives of Others will open the season on Monday, September 17 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Hudson Village Theatre. Other films include on November 19, Days of Glory, on December 17, Away From Her, on February 18, Radiant City. People come mostly from the MRC, which sponsors our non-profit volunteer group, as well as from the West Island, Pointe-Claire and Dorval,” Genevieve Lebel, president of La Boîte Lumineuse.
“This year we have scheduled 10 movies for the fall, seven for the winter and seven for the spring. We show the films in the original language, which have sub-titles in French. We also have English films, » she added.
